We used Abnova’s chimera RNAi to inhibit SOD1(H00006647-R01) and catalase (H00000847-R01) expression in our paper (Margras et al., 2012, JBC 287, NO. 13, pp. 9845–9854). The products performed as expected and reduction of protein levels was practically complete in the cell lines we tested. We were very satisfied with these results.

I purchased recombinant myeloid related proteins 8 and 14 from Abnova to use in functional assays. My study confirmed that these proteins are endotoxin free (as it was one of the objectives of the investigation). Both proteins performed extremely well in functional assays. Excellent reproducibility was noted when they were used for stimulation of bone-marrow derived macrophages.

I purchased the proteins ABCB1, ABCC2, and ABCG2 from Abnova. I used the proteins as positive controls in the western blots I was running. I was very pleased with the product. Each protein displayed a clear band at the correct molecular weight with little background noise. I ran several blots which used one of the three proteins mentioned above as the positive control. My lab works on human Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV), a virus that is a serious worldwide health problem and for which there is no vaccine. We study the function of several of the viral glycoproteins, hoping to gain a better understanding of how this virus replicates. To visualize the viral glycoproteins, we currently have a need to combine immuno-precipitation and Western blots. To avoid seeing the antibody heavy and light chains as contaminations on the blot, a second (rabbit) antibody against our specific antigen was needed. We found hardly any rabbit antibodies of this kind commercially available. Abnova did have such an antibody, which was recently purchased, and we look forward to the improvement it will bring to our Western blots.
