Applications
Western Blot
Western blot analysis of rat skeletal muscle (A), Hela (B), CHOK1 (C) whole cell lysates with Hexokinase 2 recombinant monoclonal antibody (Cat # RAB02508).Immunohistochemistry (Formalin/PFA-fixed paraffin-embedded sections)
Immunohistochemical analysis of human breast carcinoma formalin fixed paraffin embedded tissue section using Hexokinase 2 recombinant monoclonal antibody (Cat # RAB02508). The section was pre-treated using heat mediated antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6.13). The section was then incubated with the antibody at room temperature and detected using an HRP conjugated compact polymer system. DAB was used as the chromogen. The section was then counterstained with haematoxylin and mounted with DPX.Immunoprecipitation

HyperlinkGene Summary
Hexokinases phosphorylate glucose to produce glucose-6-phosphate, the first step in most glucose metabolism pathways. This gene encodes hexokinase 2, the predominant form found in skeletal muscle. It localizes to the outer membrane of mitochondria. Expression of this gene is insulin-responsive, and studies in rat suggest that it is involved in the increased rate of glycolysis seen in rapidly growing cancer cells. [provided by RefSeq
