Applications
Western Blot (Transfected lysate)
Western blot analysis of MAPT (arrow) using MAPT polyclonal antibody (Cat # PAB3865).
293 cell lysates (2 ug/lane) either nontransfected (Lane 1) or transiently transfected with the MAPT gene (Lane 2).Immunohistochemistry (Formalin/PFA-fixed paraffin-embedded sections)
Formalin-fixed and paraffin-embedded human hepatocellular carcinoma tissue reacted with MAPT polyclonal antibody (Cat # PAB3865) , which was peroxidase-conjugated to the secondary antibody, followed by AEC staining. This data demonstrates the use of this antibody for immunohistochemistry; clinical relevance has not been evaluated. BC = breast carcinoma; HC = hepatocarcinoma.Immunofluorescence

Gene Description
microtubule-associated protein tau
Gene Ontology
HyperlinkGene Summary
This gene encodes the microtubule-associated protein tau (MAPT) whose transcript undergoes complex, regulated alternative splicing, giving rise to several mRNA species. MAPT transcripts are differentially expressed in the nervous system, depending on stage of neuronal maturation and neuron type. MAPT gene mutations have been associated with several neurodegenerative disorders such as Alzheimer's disease, Pick's disease, frontotemporal dementia, cortico-basal degeneration and progressive supranuclear palsy.
