Lyophilized from 50 mM phosphate buffer, 100 mM NaCl, 500 ug glycine, pH 7.4
Store at -80°C. After reconstitution with deionized water, store at -80°C. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing.
Do not use alpha-2-Macroglobulin in presence of DTT, even at 1 mM DTT causes reversible dissociation into inactive subunits. It is sensitive to acidic pH and denatured below pH 4.0. Ammonia methylamine and hydroxylamine (above pH 7.0) cause irreversible conversion to the inactive form.
Alpha-2-macroglobulin is a protease inhibitor and cytokine transporter. It inhibits many proteases, including trypsin, thrombin and collagenase. A2M is implicated in Alzheimer disease (AD) due to its ability to mediate the clearance and degradation of A-beta, the major component of beta-amyloid deposits. [provided by RefSeq
