Western Blot (Cell lysate)
Application

Western Blot (Cell lysate)

Western blot analysis of JUP immunoprecipitated from lysates prepared from A-431 cells treated with pervanadate. The immunoprecipitation was performed using mouse JUP monoclonal antibody. The blots were probed with either JUP (phospho Y550) polyclonal antibody (Cat # PAB7924). The immunoprecipitated JUP was untreated (lane 1) or treated with alkaline phosphatase (lane 2) then probed with the antibodies. In addition, the JUP (phospho Y550) polyclonal antibody (Cat # PAB7924) was used in the presence of phospho-JUP (Tyr-550) peptide (lane 3) or phospho-JUP (Tyr-644) peptide (lane 4).

    Gene Summary

This gene encodes a major cytoplasmic protein which is the only known constituent common to submembranous plaques of both desmosomes and intermediate junctions. This protein forms distinct complexes with cadherins and desmosomal cadherins and is a member of the catenin family since it contains a distinct repeating amino acid motif called the armadillo repeat. Mutation in this gene has been associated with Naxos disease. Alternative splicing occurs in this gene; however, not all transcripts have been fully described. [provided by RefSeq

    Other Designations

    OTTHUMP00000164735|catenin (cadherin-associated protein), gamma (80kD)|catenin (cadherin-associated protein), gamma 80kDa|gamma-catenin
