Applications
Western Blot (Transfected lysate)
Western blot analysis of NPTX2 (arrow) using rabbit NPTX2 polyclonal antibody (Cat # PAB2556). 293 cell lysates (2 ug/lane) either nontransfected (Lane 1) or transiently transfected with the NPTX2 gene (Lane 2) (Origene Technologies).Immunohistochemistry (Formalin/PFA-fixed paraffin-embedded sections)
Formalin-fixed and paraffin-embedded human testis tissue reacted with NPTX2 polyclonal antibody (Cat # PAB2556) , which was peroxidase-conjugated to the secondary antibody, followed by DAB staining. This data demonstrates the use of this antibody for immunohistochemistry ; clinical relevance has not been evaluated. -

HyperlinkGene Summary
This gene encodes a member of the family of neuronal petraxins, synaptic proteins that are related to C-reactive protein. This protein is involved in excitatory synapse formation. It also plays a role in clustering of alpha-amino-3-hydroxy-5-methyl-4-isoxazolepropionic acid (AMPA)-type glutamate receptors at established synapses, resulting in non-apoptotic cell death of dopaminergic nerve cells. Up-regulation of this gene in Parkinson disease (PD) tissues suggests that the protein may be involved in the pathology of PD. [provided by RefSeq
