  • Host:
  • Human
  • Theoretical MW (kDa):
  • 60-75
  • Form:
  • Lyophilized
  • Preparation Method:
  • Mammalian cell (HEK293) expression system
  • Purification:
  • Ni-sepharose purification
  • Purity:
  • > 97% by SDS-PAGE
  • Endotoxin Level:
  • < 0.1 EU/ug
  • Activity:
  • Measured by its ability to increase beta-catenin levels in the cytoplasm and nucleus of HCT116 human colon adenocarcinoma cells. 0.01-1 ng/mL of Recombinant Human MUC-1 can effectively increase beta-catenin levels.
  • Quality Control Testing:
  • SDS-PAGE Stained with Coomassie Blue

    QC Testing of P6772
MUC-1 (Human) Recombinant Protein (Cat #P6772) was determined by SDS-PAGE with Coomassie Blue, showing a band at 60-75 kDa.
  • Recommend Usage:
  • SDS-PAGE
The optimal working dilution should be determined by the end user.
  • Storage Buffer:
  • Lyophilized from PBS, pH 7.4.
  • Storage Instruction:
  • Store the lyophilized protein at -20°C to -80°C for long term.
After reconstitution to a concentration of 0.1-0.5 mg/mL in sterile distilled water, the protein solution is stable at -20°C for 3 months, at 2-8°C for up to 1 week.
Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing.

  • Gene Description:
  • mucin 1, cell surface associated
  • Gene Summary:
  • This gene is a member of the mucin family and encodes a membrane bound, glycosylated phosphoprotein. The protein is anchored to the apical surface of many epithelia by a transmembrane domain, with the degree of glycosylation varying with cell type. It also includes a 20 aa variable number tandem repeat (VNTR) domain, with the number of repeats varying from 20 to 120 in different individuals. The protein serves a protective function by binding to pathogens and also functions in a cell signaling capacity. Overexpression, aberrant intracellular localization, and changes in glycosylation of this protein have been associated with carcinomas. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants that encode different isoforms of this gene have been reported, but the full-length nature of only some has been determined. [provided by RefSeq
