The activity is determined by the dose-dependent inhibition of IL-4-induced proliferation of mouse HT-2 cells. The expected ED50 for this effect is 0.1-0.15 ng/mL.
Storage Buffer:
Lyophilized with 10 mM HCl, 50 ug BSA per mg/mL of protein.
Storage Instruction:
Store at -20°C on dry atmosphere. After reconstitution with sterilized water, store at -20°C. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing.
Note:
Result of activity analysis
Serial dilutions of Human TGFB1 (starting at 10 ng/mL) were added to HT-2 cultured with IL-4. Cell proliferation was measured and the linear portion of the curve was us used to calculate the ED50.
TGFB is a multifunctional peptide that controls proliferation, differentiation, and other functions in many cell types. TGFB acts synergistically with TGFA (MIM 190170) in inducing transformation. It also acts as a negative autocrine growth factor. Dysregulation of TGFB activation and signaling may result in apoptosis. Many cells synthesize TGFB and almost all of them have specific receptors for this peptide. TGFB1, TGFB2 (MIM 190220), and TGFB3 (MIM 190230) all function through the same receptor signaling systems.[supplied by OMIM
