CEA is a glycoprotein constituent of embryonic endodermal epithelium. It is a complex molecule of 200kD. specific to CEA, clone 85 A12 may be used in studying and monitoring primary and secondary tumours of the gastrointestinal tract. Strongly stains tumour cells present in cancerous colon tissue. Only very weak staining of normal tissue observed. The monoclonal antibody does not cross-react with NCA (Non-specific cross-reacting antigen), another member of the CEA family.
