Western Blot (Recombinant protein)
Western blot analysis of recombinant human synuclein family (alpha-, beta- and gamma-) proteins (100 ng) by SNCA monoclonal antibody, clone AT1E10 (Cat # MAB11210) (1:500). Proteins were visualized using a goat anti-mouse secondary antibody conjugated to HRP and an ECL detection system. Lane 1: alpha-synuclein. Lane 2: beta-synuclein. Lane 3: gamma-synuclein.

Immunofluorescence analysis of alpha-synuclein in (A) LnCap cells and (B) HeLa cells. The cell was stained with SNCA monoclonal antibody, clone AT1E10 (Cat # MAB11210) (1:100). The secondary antibody (green) was used Alexa Fluor 488. DAPI was stained the cell nucleus (blue).

Alpha-synuclein is a member of the synuclein family, which also includes beta- and gamma-synuclein. Synucleins are abundantly expressed in the brain and alpha- and beta-synuclein inhibit phospholipase D2 selectively. SNCA may serve to integrate presynaptic signaling and membrane trafficking. Defects in SNCA have been implicated in the pathogenesis of Parkinson disease. SNCA peptides are a major component of amyloid plaques in the brains of patients with Alzheimer's disease. Four alternatively spliced transcripts encoding two different isoforms have been identified for this gene. [provided by RefSeq
