agouti related protein homolog (mouse)
Gene Ontology
HyperlinkGene Summary
Agouti-related protein is an antagonist of the melanocortin-3 and melanocortin-4 receptor. It appears to regulate hypothalamic control of feeding behavior via melanocortin receptor and/or intracellular calcium regulation. Agouti-related protein is alternatively spliced into 2 variants which differ in 5' untranslated sequence length. [provided by RefSeq
