Western Blot (Recombinant protein)
Western blot analysis of Caspase-6. Recombinant catalytically active CASP6 was western blotted with Active/Cleaved CASP6 polyclonal antibody (Cat # PAB0244) . The antisera detected both the large and small subunits of Active/Cleaved CASP6.
Immunohistochemistry (Formalin/PFA-fixed paraffin-embedded sections)
Formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissue sections of human glioma stained for Active/Cleaved CASP6 expression. Using Active/Cleaved CASP6 polyclonal antibody (Cat # PAB0244) at 1 : 2000. Gemistocytoma (low grade tumor) at low (A) and high (B) magnification. Two examples of anaplastic, high grade (III) infiltrating gliomas (C and D) . Increased active/cleaved Caspase-6 may be seen in high grade, compared to low grade tumors. Hematoxylin-eosin counterstain.

This gene encodes a protein which is a member of the cysteine-aspartic acid protease (caspase) family. Sequential activation of caspases plays a central role in the execution-phase of cell apoptosis. Caspases exist as inactive proenzymes which undergo proteolytic processing at conserved aspartic residues to produce two subunits, large and small, that dimerize to form the active enzyme. This protein is processed by caspases 7, 8 and 10, and is thought to function as a downstream enzyme in the caspase activation cascade. Alternative splicing of this gene results in two transcript variants that encode different isoforms. [provided by RefSeq
