Adenosine deaminase is a purine catabolic enzyme ubiquitous in mammalian tissue which catalyzes deamination of both adenosine and 2'-deoxyadenosine to inosine and 2'-deoxyinosine respectively.

Native protein chromatographically purified from Calf Spleen by a modification of the method of Pfrogner, Arch. Biochim. Biophys., 119, 141 (1967)
Activity
>=15 units per mg dry weight. One Unit converts one micromole of adenosine to inosine per minute at 25°C, pH 7.4.
