Solution. Same as Cat.# P5265 except assayed using NAD. Phosphohexose isomerase, phosphogluconate dehydrogenase, adenylate kinase and creatine phosphokinase contaminant activities ≤ 0.011%, 0.002%, 0.0011% and 0.0011% respectively.
Biological function
Glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase is a cytosolic enzyme in the pentose phosphate pathway, which is a metabolic pathway that supplies reducing energy to cells by maintaining the level of the co-enzyme NADPH.

Native protein chromatographically purified from Leuconostoc mesenteroides
Activity
>=360 NAD units per mg protein. One Unit reduces one micromole of NAD per minute at 37°C, pH 7.8, using glucose-6-phosphate as substrate.
