"My lab works on human Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV), a virus that is a serious worldwide health problem and for which there is no vaccine. We study the function of several of the viral glycoproteins, hoping to gain a better understanding of how this virus replicates. To visualize the viral glycoproteins, we currently have a need to combine immuno-precipitation and Western blots. To avoid seeing the antibody heavy and light chains as contaminations on the blot, a second (rabbit) antibody against our specific antigen was needed.
