Applications
Western Blot (Transfected lysate)
Western blot analysis of MMP3 (arrow) using rabbit MMP3 polyclonal antibody (Cat # PAB4795). 293 cell lysate (2 ug/lane) either nontransfected (Lane 1) or transiently transfected with the MMP3 gene (Lane 2) (Origene Technologies).Immunohistochemistry (Formalin/PFA-fixed paraffin-embedded sections)
Formalin-fixed and paraffin-embedded human hepatocellular carcinoma tissue reacted with MMP3 polyclonal antibody (Cat # PAB4795) , which was peroxidase-conjugated to the secondary antibody, followed by AEC staining. This data demonstrates the use of this antibody for immunohistochemistry ; clinical relevance has not been evaluated. HC = hepatocarcinoma.Enzyme-linked Immunoabsorbent Assay
Flow Cytometry
Flow cytometric analysis of HepG2 cells using MMP3 polyclonal antibody (Cat # PAB4795) (bottom histogram) compared to a negative control cell (top histogram). FITC-conjugated goat-anti-rabbit secondary antibodies were used for the analysis. -

HyperlinkGene Summary
Proteins of the matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) family are involved in the breakdown of extracellular matrix in normal physiological processes, such as embryonic development, reproduction, and tissue remodeling, as well as in disease processes, such as arthritis and metastasis. Most MMP's are secreted as inactive proproteins which are activated when cleaved by extracellular proteinases. This gene encodes an enzyme which degrades fibronectin, laminin, collagens III, IV, IX, and X, and cartilage proteoglycans. The enzyme is thought to be involved in wound repair, progression of atherosclerosis, and tumor initiation. The gene is part of a cluster of MMP genes which localize to chromosome 11q22.3.
