This antibody recognizes 50-60KDa cell surface protein which is the human homologue of rat OX-47 antigen. (This moiety is expressed in blood brain barrier endothelium, on normal and neoplastic breast tissue)This antibody recognizes the 118kD cell surface glycoprotein CD146, also known as MUC18, Mel-CAM and S-endo. CD146 is a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily, expressed by all endothelial cells and by melanoma cells. Reacts with basigin or neurothelin, a transmembrane glycoprotein (50-60kd) of the immunoglobulin super-gene family. Neurothelin is a blood brain barrier-specific molecule. It bears homology with mouse gp42 or basigin, human M6 or EmMprin, rat OX-47 or CE-9, and avian HT7 or 5A11. Neurothelin is a molecule which is broadly expressed on cells of hematopoietic and non-hematopoietic origin. Its expression on specific cell types may be regulated by cytokines.
